Paula Campbell

Teaches at The Art Center Highland Park

"I grew up in the metropolitan areas of Chicago, Paris and Munich. My mother, who drew and painted, exposed me to art making at an early age. 
At the age of fourteen I started taking oil painting lessons from the Chicago artist Gianni Cilfone. At that time I was very interested in Impressionist painting and could view the wonderful collection in the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon returning to Munich a couple of years later, I was introduced to figure drawing. In the Lenbachhaus and the Pinakothek I discovered German expressionism.

After starting my degree in Munich and completing it in Chicago, I devoted more time to making art. I enrolled in the American Academy of Art. At about the same time I came across a congenial group of printmakers led by Audrey Niffenegger. Working with this group  for over twenty years has been a very rewarding experience."
