Discover what can happen when glass is used in a painterly manner. Students will create imagery and depth in a 4” x 6” glass “postcard” inspired by their own image, photo, or drawing, using a palette of clear and colored sheet glass together with glass powders. Basic coldworking techniques will be introduced to enhance and finish the postcards. Students are asked to bring an image, photo, or drawing to class that they wish to translate into glass. A short presentation on contemporary kilnformed glass will compliment hands-on work.
What to Expect: You will create one glass postcard, as well as the skills to cut, assemble, and fuse glass. Class time will alternate between demonstration and work time.
Eligibility: No experience required, however, this class is also suitable for those who have taken introductory kilnformed glass classes. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down over several nights, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
