What you'll learn in this clay class:

Touch is the first sense to develop when we are born. Yet most of our life is experienced through sight. During this unique experience, we will take you back to the very beginning. Explore your sense of touch by sculpturing...without sight.

Using only your sense of touch and memory, you will guide yourself through an amazing immersive, sculpting experience. Surrounding music and aromas will add to the immersive environment.

This session is not about the finished sculpture, but the process of feeling your way through a mental image. No sculpture experience necessary. Just your willingness to express yourself through touch. In the end, you will get a photo of your sculpture to take home with you. Sculpture Without Sight is not a class, but an immersive experience that you will remember!

Bring your own bottle of wine, friends, spouses, co-workers and enjoy the experience. Perfect for corporate outings and private parties!

Please make sure you arrive on time as we start on time. This is not a pottery class and the Sculptures are not intended to be taken home.

Question from Simona B.
Can my daughter come with me to this class, it's her birthday and she is 12 years old and well behaved, she will like to try this amazing experience with me, I will like to purchase the tickets today, please let me know. She loves art and wants to experience this class with me. Do you know exactly what type of material we will be using?
Answer from Elijah C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there. The school typically don’t allow kids younger than 16 years old, but they are willing to make an exception. This class is a clay sculpting experience and we are using water-based clay. Hope this helps!
Question from Simona B.
Hi, are kids allowed to come in?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Simona! This class is for age 21 and above only. Thanks!
Question from Anonymous
I wanted to treat my boyfriend to this as a birthday gift. But we will both only be 19. We aren’t interested in drinking but he will be on Thanksgiving break from SUNY Maritime. He doesn’t have any art classes offered at SUNY (please spare us).
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! Unarthodox can definitely accommodate you! Drinking is not mandatory;) just so the students understand Unarthodox doesn’t offer classes, they offer experiences. So the students won’t learn anything from it, they will EXPERIENCE art. Hope this helps!
Question from Jess
Hi there! I'm looking to do a team bonding class for around 10 people in October. I love this idea, could you give me the October schedule?
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Jess, this class is only scheduled for Sept and unfortunately, we really can't say when will it be offered again. You can add it to your wish-list so you can be notified via email when new updates are made on the website.
Question from Cian H.
Do you get to bring home your sculpture after the class?
Answer from Billy C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hello, Sculpture Without Sight experience is not about the finished product (sculpture) but the process of feeling your way through a mental image. It's pretty cool and unique, and I am sure they will enjoy it. You don't get to take the sculpture with you, but you definitely take awesome experience and memories with you when you leave. We will be taking photos throughout the whole process and send it to the guests next day.

Seemed a little short timewise with all the instruction and process. Also would have been nice to be able to take my sculpture home or eventually receive a bust made from the clay mold later in the mail. Fun concept though, and a nice date idea.

while a fun experience, paying $65/person and then not getting to keep the sculptures we made was a bit of a letdown. Also, some of the aroma therapy made me feel really sick to my stomach at certain points, I like what they were trying to do, but some of it was just too intense.

This was an awesome experience I only wish we could have kept our finished pieces :)
