Summer Camp (Ages 4-10)

How do you like about the Oscar Award this year? Well...We love it and will bring the Oscar heat to this summer! In our 2019 Mandarin summer camp, we and our little campers will make our own movies with three different performing art forms - traditional Chinese dough figurine drama, children theater, and the modern animation. By the end of each session, we will put our work together and turn into an awesome movie, which we can share with our family, friends and loved ones.

Session One: Fun with Chinese Dough Figurine
The dough figurine is a Chinese traditional art form that goes back to more than 2,000 years ago - Han Dynasty. Chinese artists used wheat flour and glutinous rice flour to make the figures, and use those figures to create a drama play. In our summer camp, we will get cultured with this special traditional art form, make our own dough figurine (from shaping to coloring), create our story lines, rehearse the play, and wait for it….make our own movie!

Session Two: Spotlight on the Stage
We are a big believer on drama theater. I believe it brings out children’s imagination, nurtures confidence and enriches spoken language and literacy.  In this session, we will explore every detail about the drama theater – create story characters and background, develop the story lines, design and make the setting for the character and staging, and produce our own play! Our great success of the play will dedicate to each of you!

• Develop literacy skills in Mandarin by creating the characters and story lines
• Experience hands-on art projects in making stage setting
• A children theater movie made by our campers

Session Three: Is This How You Make Animation?
Every child encounters animation in one way or another. But do you know how to make one? Thanks to the modern technology. It makes the animation production process much easier than the old days. In this session, we will design our characters, create and draw our stories, take photos of our drawings, record the narrator, and turn it into an animation movie! Doesn’t that sound cool?! Come and join our animation camp and learn all the fun in making one!
