Four Week Musical Theatre Foundation

Our Four Week Musical Theater Foundation class will introduce you to the fundamental techniques needed to perform on stage, and is the perfect way to explore the magic of musicals.

You will be predominantly taught in groups, but there will be opportunities for solo work. Students will be asked to bring in their own choice of song to work on in a masterclass with the rest of the group, working towards an informal showcase in the last week.

Musical Theater Course Content:
Exact content may differ depending on students’ needs and course duration, but topics generally covered include:

• Integrate singing, dance and acting
• Focus on putting on large ensemble pieces as well as exploration of solo performing
• Introduction to fundamental techniques and application to song and dance routine
• Learn vocal material
• Learn dance material
• Solo masterclass focusing on Acting Through Song
• Vocal and physical warm ups to work on Musical Theater technique
• You will also start to focus on acting through song with some basic skills taught to help you get the most out of your performance
• Further understanding of the vocal mechanism
• Understanding how to achieve a good quality vocal performance while using the voice in a safe and healthy manner
• Learning singing techniques through warm up exercises
• Working on a more complex group number
• Work on individual songs with personal feedback about vocal technique and style
• A foundation in acting through song technique
• Run through and showcase

You’ll receive friendly feedback throughout the course. Any material covered within the class, will also be available online, to be accessed and practiced at home during the course.

Please Note: This class is for ages 10 and up, meaning both children and adults are able to attend.
