Articulating Your Point of View with Kimberly Senior

Much of being a director depends breathing life into a play by imbuing it with your unique perspective, and the ability to convey the story you're attempting to tell. In this 2-day directing intensive, you will dive into your point-of-view and how to best articulate it and see it flourish within the creative process.

This class might be for you if you:

• Are a director who needs to hone your distinct voice.
• Have difficulty expressing to collaborators and producers why you singularly are the best person to direct a given project because of the special something you bring.
• Are available to attend both class sessions.
• Have or have not taken this workshop before. Kimberly will be using different source material this time around, so it is suitable for returning students.

In this class you will:

• Be sent a short story ahead of time for you to prepare your ideas.
• Complete hands-on, up-on-your-feet, in-class exercises to dissect the source material and tell the story.
• Explore the different types of magic that make up unique creative collaborations, from director/playwright, director/designer, to director/actor, including the dynamic relationship a director has with institutions and audiences.

By the end of this class you will:

• Be able to articulate the unique perspective you bring to any work of theater.

Participants must be able to attend both days.
