After learning to sew from her mother & being inspired to design by Princess Diana’s wedding, Katrin was well on her way to making her own pieces. Soon after graduating from Massachusetts College of Art, Katrin received compliments on her handmade designs in the streets of New York and was driven to create samples in her Brooklyn-based studio.

In 2007, she was able to launch her own self-named line, Katrin Reifiss, that features pieces created and dyed with Japanese Shibori. As Katrin’s business grows, she strives to ensure that each piece she creates with the Shibori technique carries its own narrative with feeling of movement and fluidity combined with spontaneity of the inspiration around her. Each of her highly-versatile pieces are small-batch and made with organic, American-sourced materials at her Brooklyn studio.

The class was well done. It was small and we were all friends so that was awesome. I enjoyed the process; it was relaxing and the instructor was great. She was generous with information and suggestions.
