Herbalism for Beginners: Understanding Botanical Ingredients is an introductory educational class designed to help students explore the fundamentals of herbalism, understand the properties of botanical ingredients, and learn how herbs and plant-based materials are used in traditional wellness practices and everyday personal care products. This class combines a one-hour live virtual learning experience with four self-paced online course modules, providing students with both instructor-led guidance and independent learning opportunities.
The class is divided into two parts. Part 1 is a one-hour live virtual stream session focused on foundational herbalism theory, botanical ingredient education, and an interactive question-and-answer session. Students will be introduced to the role of herbs in traditional practices, basic botanical terminology, responsible ingredient selection, and essential safety considerations when learning about plant-based materials.
Part 2 consists of four online course modules that students access by logging into their Peach Academy student account. These modules expand on the concepts introduced during the live session, allowing students to study botanical ingredients, explore common herbs and their uses, understand preparation methods, and develop a foundation for researching and selecting botanical materials for educational projects.
By combining live instruction with flexible online learning, this class provides a structured starting point for individuals interested in herbalism, botanical education, natural product development, and plant-based ingredients. No prior herbalism experience is required.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
School Notes: For live in person classes - student are responsible for bringing their practice kits. We will send out kit list via email of requirements with recommendation where they can purchase supplies.
