In this class, you'll learn to build websites with HTML and CSS, the two languages behind every webpage. You'll get hands-on experience coding sites from the ground up, all the way through publishing them online. Along the way, you'll pick up best practices for structuring and tagging your content with HTML, then styling it with CSS.
With HTML, you'll create pages filled with text, images, and more. With CSS, you'll style that content, design centered layouts, add background images, format navigation, and make your pages responsive so they adapt to any screen size through media queries. When it's time to go live, you'll upload your files using FTP. All the content, both text and images, comes prepared for you, so your attention stays on the coding itself.
What You Will Learn
- Begin building websites by hand-coding HTML and CSS
- Mark up content like text, images, lists, and links using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
- Style that content with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), controlling font, size, color, spacing, width, and much more
- Create multi-page sites that bring together text, images, and other elements
- Adjust your layouts for different screen sizes to build responsive webpages
- Use browser developer tools to look under the hood and test out code changes
- Publish your site by uploading the files through FTP
This course is available for 30 days. You can choose when to start your access period. Once you activate, you will have 30 days to complete it (access the course materials, quizzes, projects and videos). You may request one extension of seven (7) days. Other extension requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Videos are not downloadable.
