Take your flash skills to the next level by expanding your creative options in the studio and on location. External flashes are versatile enabling you to produce high quality results without the expense and bulk of studio lighting.
Learn to use your external flash off-camera (wirelessly or wired) and how to use multiple flashes.
We will also cover working with light modifiers for greater control and shaping the lighting on your subject. Modifiers include soft boxes, umbrellas, diffusers, reflectors, gels, grids and snoots.
Much of the class time will be devoted to hands on practice with different lighting set-ups and modifiers.
Prerequisite: Participants need to have taken the class External Flash Made Easy, or have equivalent knowledge (ability to use TTL and manual flash modes, adjust flash power, and use flash as bounce light and fill light).
Required equipment
- Your camera and compatible external flash unit.
- Any combination of lenses covering wide to telephoto range (18–200mm).
- Extra batteries for your camera and flash.
- An extra memory card.
- We will have light stands to mount the flashes off camera and plenty of modifiers. You are welcome to bring your own if you would like but it is not required.
