  • French Macaron Step-by-Step Class

Reviewed by Anna I. on 12/24/2023
I love the class! The instructions were very easy to follow, and I was really amazed at how well the macarons turned out! Chelly was very attentive to what I was doing, and her advice and tips were helpful in achieving the crispy macaron shells that taste and look like real macarons, with nice feet, chewy insides, and crunchy outsides. I tried baking macarons before, but they turned out flat and hard, similar to a cookie. It is not easy to achieve the right dough consistency, which is key to successful macaron shells. Having someone on your side along the way is super helpful. Chelly helped me to understand what consistency I needed to achieve. Also, once she learned that I have a convection oven, she helped me adjust the temperature so the macarons are baked at the right speed. I highly recommend Chelly's master class to anyone who wants to try making macarons for the first time. She probably has baked thousands of macarons and taught numerous people, so she can set you up for success right away. I'm so glad to have delicious macarons for our Christmas dinner today!

Discover the Best Couples Cooking Classes in Washington, D.C.

Cooking is the art of using heat to produce tasty meals that people can savor together, whether at home or in a restaurant. Along with the variety of techniques for applying heat to food, cooking also involves blending ingredients to create new and layered flavors.

For thousands of years, people have built traditions around food, including today’s popular dating ritual of going out for dinner and a movie. Couples cooking is another well-loved tradition in which intimate partners share kitchen responsibilities. While some couples cook together to save time, many couples enjoy couples cooking as a hobby and making meals together strengthens their relationships.

Learning how to cook with a partner is fun, and can be much less scary than exploring a new skill on your own. For this reason, couples cooking classes have become a big hit in as well as other cities across the globe.

Why You Should Learn Couples Cooking in

As you explore new flavors and cuisines while cooking, you’ll likely find you’re more curious, a trait known to revitalize dormant relationships. In addition to spending quality uninterrupted time with your partner, couples cooking will give you plenty of opportunities to develop useful relationship skills such as communication, problem-solving, and sharing responsibilities. If you’re like most couples, you’ll likely find that this practice transforms you and your partner into a more united front in all areas of your life.

On top of the relationship perks that come with couples cooking, you’ll also notice individual benefits. If you need a hands-on activity to help you wind down after a stressful day, couples cooking classes engage all five senses and encourage you to mindfully focus on the present. Additionally, participating in classes is a great way to widen your social circle by meeting locals who share your love of food.

In-Person Couples Cooking Classes in

If you’re looking for a hands-on way to explore food and culture, joining a class is a much more interactive option than simply eating out at a restaurant. Enjoy time away from family and work responsibilities as you learn all about food from an experienced chef. Although you can learn to cook by yourself, you’ll learn more quickly in the hands of an expert.

In addition to being taught by chefs, most in-person couples cooking courses are hosted in professional kitchens where you can enjoy working with exquisite culinary ingredients and expensive cookware you might not have at home. Even if you’re planning to invest in more cooking gear eventually, you might not be ready to fork over the extra cash yet, and cooking classes can be a great way to explore what cookware you’d actually use before you buy. As a well-loved date-night item for years, in-person couples cooking classes in are easy to search for on CourseHorse.

To explore foods that pair well with alcohol, visit The Kitchen Studio Cooking School in Frederick, Maryland, and enjoy their Date Night: Pub Foods Couples Cooking class. Carla Lemons will teach you how to create your own pub menu including popular items like Beer-Battered Fried Pickles and Bacon Cheddar Sliders.

Want to get more in touch with your African roots? Calbra Classics in Gaithersburg, Maryland offers a Cooking for Couples class that features Nigerian and West African cuisine. After a night of connecting with your culture, your partner, and other couples, you’ll have skills and recipes you can use at home whenever you want a fabulous night.

During the season of love, you can also participate in special Valentine’s classes, such as the

Valentine’s Date Night Cooking Class at The Kitchen Studio Cooking School in Frederick. Grab your honey and learn how to cook a high-class meal together. Before you’re through, you’ll be enjoying decadent Creole crab beignets, beef tenderloin with buttery potatoes, and rich chocolate Stout cake.

Virtual Couples Cooking Classes

While you won’t be working in a professional kitchen, online couples cooking classes have plenty of advantages that in-person classes don’t. For example, learning to cook in your own kitchen allows you to skip stressful commutes and parking lot loops. In addition, you’ll get to start making happy memories that will live in your space for years to come. What’s more, when selecting from online couples cooking classes, you won’t be limited to just a few local classes. Instead, you’ll be able to choose from classes hosted all over the world.

If you’re worried that online classes won’t provide a high-quality learning experience, you can rest easy knowing that live online classes are just as engaging and fun as in-person courses. Taught by skilled chefs in real-time, you’ll benefit from expert demonstrations and tips while having the date night of your life.

In addition to a reliable internet connection, online classes typically require you to purchase your own ingredients and cookware ahead of time. While some classes will ship supplies to you as part of the course, most instructors will provide you with a detailed guide to follow as you collect ingredients. Start creating romantic memories today by joining one of the online couples cooking classes available on CourseHorse.

If you’re craving American classics or simply want to master some beginner-friendly essentials, consider joining Class in the Kitchen for a Date Night: Steak for Two class. Italian-born Chef Grazia Hughes will give you a solid understanding of how to season and sear a succulent steak. In addition, she’ll help you prepare a mushroom and wine reduction sauce along with a side of hot potatoes.
